First Time in a Wheelchair: 'Rolling into the Sea' with Sunny and the Sea Breeze for People with Rare Diseases

Going to the beach in summer is a common way for many people to cool off, but for wheelchair users, it can be a difficult distance to overcome. "Rolling Power" helps them break through these limitations!

On August 29th, "Rolling Power" and a group of wheelchair users with rare diseases from Lifewire "rolled into the sea" at Repulse Bay. With the assistance of professionals and volunteers from the Police Diving Club, they used special beach wheelchairs to cross the sand and enter the sea, experiencing the sensation of floating and enjoying their first waves.


Chu Yan-hei, who has been unable to move from the neck down since contracting Guillain-Barré syndrome a few years ago, hadn't been to the beach in three years, according to her mother. This time, she was able to build sandcastles like when she was little, and even go into the sea, which made her very happy.


Chow Pui-shan, who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy, went to the beach and into the sea for the first time in her life. When she looked back at the photos and videos at home, she felt like she was dreaming.


 


Chan Yau-chun, who has hereditary spastic paraplegia, grinned from ear to ear as soon as she touched the cool seawater!
