She spent twice as much time as other students to jot notes and do homework. This year, Alicia not only graduate from School for Higher and Professional Education, but also attain scholarships. She proved to her mother, "Your daughter has made it! She can survive!".
It is not uneasy to find CP patient result in the emergence of spasticity, limbs cannot be coordinated, bone changes, language barriers and other characteristics. But the day of the visit, Alicia showed no difference as other ordinary girls: do make up, wear earrings and love to laugh. She suffered CP due to brain hypoxia when she birthed. Discriminate since elementary school
Alicia’s family wanted her in regular school to try the life of ordinary students. Yet, she was bullied by her classmates and made fun of her. She had no idea how to fight for herself at that time. She has electrotherapy once a week. Alicia still unconsciously touch the right arm, said "right part of the body covered with wires, to discharge to stimulate the nerve" Even her mother could not dare to watch the treatment for 45 minutes.
Be strong when growing up
She felt the seriousness of bullying problem and found herself need to be strong. She hopes to prove intelligence can overcome her disability. "I have keep telling to myself, work hard will pay!" When she entered college, she kept revising the course materials and used double time to study.
She will graduate from the School for Higher and Professional Education (SHAPE) under the Vocational Training Council (VTC) this year and will be awarded a special scholarship for special needs. People with disabilities always have to walk a few more steps than ordinary people. She thinks bullying and teasing force her to achieve today's results. After graduation, she hopes to get a job and tells her mom, "Your daughter has made it! She can survive!"
