"Doll is our best friend", I believe all doll lovers will agree with it. Yet, not everyone knows the right way to keep their dolls well. Two “dolls doctor” Raymond and Ryan from Magic Lab share the daily care of dolls for dolls lover to facilitate simple maintenance.
1. Dolls with plastic bags to avoid dust?
Furry dolls provoke dust easily. To avoid that, many people cover plastic bags on dolls, and some even use plastic wrap. Ryan does not recommend this method, although it is dustproof, you will feel like hugging plastic layer which lost the original hugging doll texture.
If the dolls are filled with dust, the doll doctor recommends using a brush to gently on the surface of the doll.
2. Why cotton deformed?
Most of the newly bought dolls are "plump", but they are much thinner as time goes on. Raymond said that new factory dolls are fluffier, so they look “bigger”. When the owners hug them frequently, the cotton will become more compressed.
Although the cotton compaction will make the doll looks thinner, the doll doctor explains this situation is difficult to avoid. He suggested doll lovers can send their dolls to “dolls clinic” to plump the fluffy cotton again.

3. Do not hug your dolls after applying skin care products?
Ryan reminded ladies not to touch the doll in the face or hand coated with skin care products, cosmetics or with grease. It will stick to the dolls’ surface and difficult to clean.
4. Will change color after placing under the sun?
The sun contains ultraviolet light can eliminate bacteria. Note that the time should not be too long placing under the sun, otherwise the doll may be discolored or bleaching.
5. Fluffy dolls lead to nasal allergy?
Many parents worried that children play dolls will lead to nasal allergy. In fact, the allergen is dust mites in the dolls. Raymond suggested using the high temperature steam to kill dust mites. The best practice is to apply steam cleaning once a year.
6. What is the difference between dry cleaning and steam cleaning?
Raymond, who has been involved in research and development of steam-cleaning appliances, said that if the dolls were sent to a dry-clean shop, it was possible to add chemicals to the surface of the process. The surface of the dolls may result in cotton deformation.
Therefore, the doll doctor recommends the use of steam cleaning. Without the use of chemicals, doll lovers reduce the chance of getting nasal allergy. In addition, all parts of the doll (such as the neck and the armpit) can be carefully cleaned when using steam cleaning. However, steam cleaning must be handled by hand, so the dolls have to wait one by one which is quite time consuming.
