A group of children with rare diseases make orchestral music not only something to listen to, but also something to watch.

Thank you to the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of Hong Kong for their third collaboration with Lifewire, as they hold a charity concert at the Academy for Performing Arts on June 27th.

This is more than just a musical experience; sand artist Mr. Ma Koon-ping is leading a group of Lifewire children to express their hearts through art.

Tse Cheuk-yau (Spinal Muscular Atrophy), Yiu Sum-yuet (Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1), and Law Tsz-yu (Russell-Silver Syndrome) braved the rain after school on Monday to rehearse for the sand art performance.

Everyone listened intently as Mr. Ma explained the techniques, and the children who were experiencing sand art for the first time were very excited.

We look forward to next Saturday’s official performance, where the orchestral piece "Danse du Grand Calumet de la Paix" from Les Indes Galantes will accompany the drawing of blooming flowers, symbolizing how the lives of these children with rare diseases blossom.

Using music to accentuate the moving moments as each sand painting takes shape.
