Besides eating tangyuan, tradition holds that today, the Lantern Festival, is also the day to open red envelopes to "gather wealth."

Sharing this joy with children suffering from rare diseases is a wonderful way to accumulate blessings.

Take Chen Yau-chun, for example, who shares the same hereditary spastic paraplegia as his second elder sister.

Unable to speak or control his limb movements, he cannot use a standard electric wheelchair.

He relies entirely on his mother to push him around.

2021, we used donations to purchase a customized electric wheelchair for Yau-chun, costing over a hundred thousand dollars, modified to be controlled by his chin.

It was like a caged bird regaining its freedom; he was so excited to be able to "roll around."

However, as his condition changed, using his chin to control the wheelchair became unsuitable.

Last year, his therapist identified a head-controlled driving system for his wheelchair.

Yet, costing over ten thousand dollars, it was an unaffordable expense for Yau-chun's financially strained family.

Fortunately, thanks to everyone's donations, Yau-chun was finally able to purchase this system and have it installed.

He is now actively practicing at school, driving with such skill that he can move around wherever he pleases; even his mask can't hide his big smile.
