【Visiting children with rare diseases and listening to their dreams】

Listening and companionship have always been crucial for patients with rare diseases. We are grateful that Lifewire has received support from all walks of life along the way. In addition to donations and material support, many caring people have also taken action.

Among them, BAUER EQUIPMENT HONG KONG Ltd. has always donated money, heart and effort, and this year once again patronized our Mid-Autumn Charity Sale with 20 gift baskets, which were donated to families with rare diseases.

The person in charge, 林先生 , personally carried the supplies and visited Chen Tsz Kin, who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and Hester Chan, who suffers from an unknown rare disease, to learn about their daily lives and the mental journey of fighting the disease with their families.

On that day, Tsz Kin happily shared with 林先生 that he was gradually achieving his dream of becoming a YouTuber and owning the "蝸牛仔梓鍵" channel. He also revealed that he hoped to produce an album and strive to build an elevator at Lam Tin Station, which was completed 33 years ago, so that students and people with physical disabilities would no longer have to endure six times more detour time than normal people, as well as the suffering of being exposed to the sun and rain. .

Although families with rare diseases face many difficulties, they do not give up. What touched 林先生 the most was Heter's experience after she became ill:  "Before I got sick, I took many things for granted and thought I had plenty of time to do them. After I got sick, I realized it was too late and that nothing was inevitable." This made him reflect more on the importance of cherishing the present and he hopes to participate in more activities that involve interacting with patients’ families in the future.
