Last Saturday, the Lung Wah Hotel, which has stood in Hong Kong for 88 years, was surrounded by over a hundred smiling faces and sounds of laughter.
It was because a group of rare disease patients – Lifewire's birthday celebrants from January to June (spring and summer) – gathered together to celebrate.
They enjoyed the hotel's signature squab, played games, and cut 40 cakes.

It was a rare opportunity to visit this pre-war historic building that once attracted many famous figures such as Jin Yong (Louis Cha) and served as a filming location for movies like Bruce Lee's The Big Boss. Seeing the rickshaw, the nostalgic red lantern corridor, and the quaint four-square building… everyone couldn't resist going on a photo spree.

Also making everyone's hearts skip a beat with "likes" was the stunning lineup of super cute cakes: 40 heart-shaped breads and pastries, mochi cakes by Red Heart Bakery, and a two‑layer doll marshmallow cake by Beautiful Time Flowercake.

Everyone raved, "They're too beautiful to eat!" – and even packed some to take home and enjoy slowly.

What also made the birthday stars unable to put them down were the exclusive small personalised gold plaques from thean Cultureheirhk, printed with their names and birth dates – such a thoughtful touch. Hao Xiang's mother said he absolutely loved it and put it on right away as his 18th birthday coming‑of‑age gift.

Also, the cute plush toys donated by Tracy and Carmen were hugged tightly by everyone and never let go.

Of course, birthdays are not complete without heartfelt blessings.
Many thanks to Director Andrew Lau, Anita, Ginger, Josie, and Ms. Kung… and other kind donors for their birthday red pocket.

Many families were visiting for the first time; some patients even took leave from the hospital to come. Although the entrance ramp was quite steep, thankfully the volunteer friends helped out, working together to push and control the speed going up and down.
The volunteers worked up a sweat carrying things back and forth, sparing no effort.

Before leaving, everyone took home homemade local treats sent by Jia En's mother from Greengrass Notes SEN Charity, going home with full hands and hearts.

Sincere thanks to Swire Properties for their sponsorship, giving these families of children with rare diseases their first taste of a nostalgic garden restaurant.
Precious memories were made.

Thank you all for showing your love and care for our rare disease friends.

Lifewire once again wishes all the birthday stars happiness and peace every single day.
