Last Saturday was a day filled with laughter, gratitude, unforgettable moments, and pure enjoyment. Over a hundred members of Lifewire’s rare disease families and children with special needs came together for a grand gathering, watching a movie in a private screening and indulging in a hotel tea buffet.
Since 2021, thanks to the generous support of Brother Anson, Sister Kathy, and their family, our summers have been extra vibrant and exciting with theme park adventures, boat trips, and private celebrations that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
Despite settling in Malaysia, Brother Anson’s family has always kept rare disease families close to heart. Before each summer, they entrusted Cousin Wendy to arrange the activities, though we could only greet each other through video calls.
This year, the family finally visited Hong Kong—we were thrilled to meet them in person. Families came with great anticipation and joy to connect face to face.
Last Saturday, many parents took the opportunity during the buffet to chat and take photos with Brother Anson and Wendy’s family. Everyone was deeply grateful for this unforgettable event, especially those caring for children with rare diseases or special needs, who rarely get to go out.
One parent, while helping their child thank Brother Anson, was moved to tears, sharing from the heart that such an outing is more than just fun—it’s a true source of support and understanding.
During the event, Brother Anson’s family even joined us for a “Guess the Song” game. Ho cheung with scoliosis, Tsz Yu with Russell-Silver Syndrome, Wai Kwan with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and Pok Yin’s mom were absolute quiz champions—answering quickly and accurately!
Twins Tung Kiu and Tung Wah’s family expressed their immense satisfaction. Tung Kiu hummed a tune before bed, and Tung Wah—who rarely speaks in full sentences—said, “Going to Tsim Sha Tsui was really fun.”
Brother Anson and Teacher Wendy were deeply moved by everyone’s enthusiasm. They promise to continue their support.
We’re also thankful to every volunteer who added warmth and strength to the event. We’re grateful for this chance to bring together rare disease families to share beautiful moments.
In the future, we’ll organize even more loving activities to create lasting, cherished memories together.
