Lifewire Run 2017

Hong Kong, my home
Once upon a time, we helped each other. Once upon a time, there was a strong sense of human kindness.

At the foot of Lion Rock, every road, every step... contains bits and pieces of you and me, and carries our shared memories.

As time goes by and the wheel turns, everyone is busy on their own track, but the collective growth mark in the alleys cannot be erased.
Let’s start again today!

Let’s gather our strength, run through the Hong Kong of the past, awaken the forgotten spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance, and find the Hong Kong we are familiar with!

阿琪(played by Ka-ki Leung)

阿琪 the daughter of the convenience store owner, has an optimistic personality and loves to laugh, but deep down in her heart she feels trapped in the store. She longs to venture out but stays because she is afraid of her father.

Talking about running:

I rarely run, but my friends often say that if they are stressed and unhappy, they can express themselves through running. They would encourage me to run with them, but I always say that running slowly will drag them down. They say that after running, they will become addicted, and their ability to cheer themselves up and their perseverance increases.

Talking about nostalgia:

Even if it's just a convenience store, to me it needs to be preserved. We often say that small shops need support, because in addition to being history, these sentiments we need to preserve, this is the central point of our cohesion, a memory shared by a group of people.

阿賢(Played by Endy Chow)

阿賢 a decorator, is a calm and steady man who takes it as his responsibility to take care of his younger brother.  Although his life is stressful, he deliberately creates a relaxed and happy image in front of his younger brother so that he doesn't worry.

Talking about running:

I think the healthiest way to reduce stress is to exercise, and for me, the shortest time to lose stress is running. Even though I was tired that day and felt a little depressed, I would go for walks and take deep breaths, which is a great stress reliever.

Talking about nostalgia:
I think Hong Kong housing estates are beautiful, with a unique cultural temperament and atmosphere that you can't find in other countries. Many foreign photographers or directors come to Hong Kong to shoot their films, but why do Hong Kong people not go back to Hong Kong when they shoot their own films, they always have to go abroad.

阿怡(Played by Kathy Yuen)

阿怡 is kind-hearted by nature. When she was a child, she received many benefits because of her cute appearance. However, when she grew up, she encountered difficulties in her work. Moreover, because she moved out of the housing estate, her relationship with 阿賢, 阿樂 and 阿琪 became distant

Talking about running:

I used to dislike running because I thought it was so tiring and I didn’t know why I was running. But in recent years, I have come to think of it as a very relaxing activity. Besides being good for the body, it also helps to relax my emotions. Sometimes I feel stressed at work, but running makes me feel much happier.

Talking about nostalgia:

When I was a child, I would always go to the park to play when I came home from school. I really liked to play hopscotch but it is something you never see in parks anymore, so it brings back childhood memories. I have loved sweet things since I was a child, especially dragon beard candy, which is becoming increasingly rare in Hong Kong.

阿樂(Played by Byrant Mak)

阿樂 suffers from mild autism and is taciturn but observant. 阿樂 likes running because it reminds him of the happy times when he was a child.

Talking about running:

I used to have very little willpower and was a person who gave up easily. Fortunately, I have a group of good friends around me who encourage each other and motivate everyone to run for a goal. I think if you want to exercise your will, running is definitely the best way.

Talking about nostalgia:

Trams are the most beautiful memories I have had since I was a child, including times with my family, girlfriend, and going to and from school. Trams are the most important thing to preserve in Hong Kong. The memory that the tram brings to me is a relationship with a girl, the (girl) from the next school, riding the tram at the same time every day, finally I mustered up the courage to pick up the phone, hahahaha…
