In order to help patients with rare diseases speak out, let more citizens know about their diseases, and listen to the voices of patients and their families, Lifewire recently participated in the "Hong Kong Radio Community Involvement Broadcasting Service" (CIBS) and produced its own program - 【我們不是這樣長大的】 to introduce various rare diseases to everyone, such as Rett's disease, Angelman syndrome, mucopolysaccharidosis, and even rare diseases without scientific names, etc. Many of Lifewire's cases were shared touchingly through the radio airwaves.

The Profound Story Sparks Repercussions

A group of patients with rare diseases are neglected due to lack of information and insufficient social awareness, and do not receive adequate medical needs and support. Many children with rare diseases undergo high-risk surgeries, spend their days in wheelchairs, and face huge medical expenses. Most have no cure, and some worry about how long they have left...The growth process they go through is definitely something that outsiders cannot understand.

The 13 episode program《我們不是這樣長大的》was broadcast on RTHK every Wednesday night from October 8 last year to January 6 this year. Hoping to awaken more people's attention, support and encouragement towards patients with rare diseases, and help them overcome every challenge in their life .Although the program has ended, the echo continues. If you want to listen to their stories, you are welcome to revisit it.
