In order to make the magic show more special, Lifewire is the designated beneficiary of the first Hong Kong Youth Magic Arts Festival (February 26-28, 2016). The organizers invited nearly 300 sick children and low-income families to enjoy the show for free. In addition, they specially arranged for children with hearing loss, intellectual disability, autism...and twin girls from low-income families to go on stage, allowing them to have a taste of being a magician!
11-year-old 威威 has autistic tendencies, and his brother, who is two years older than him, also has hyperactivity disorder and attention deficit. Weiwei’s mother does not deny that she often receives unfriendly looks from the outside world; but in fact, her two sons are kind and sensible. It’s just that others cannot understand their way of communication, which makes it difficult for the children to express themselves easily. 威威’s mother said: This time he can perform on stage, which not only enhances 威威's confidence in facing the public, but also allows the outside world to deepen their understanding of autistic children.”. 威威 took the stage at the "Hong Kong Youth Magic Arts Festival" performance on Friday night. He was so excited that he danced around and his reactions were very quick, making everyone laugh!
In addition to 威威 who suffers from autism, we also invited a pair of twin girls from a low-income family, 邦穎 and 邦瑤, to perform as little magicians on stage at the "Hong Kong Youth Magic Arts Festival " on Saturday night. The twin girls from a low-income family said that they usually don’t have many opportunities to come into contact with magic. This time they had a rare opportunity to appreciate magic and even go on stage to experience being a magician. They were very excited and it was unforgettable.
鄭耀琛, a 13-year-old Interlectually disabled boy who suffers from congenital deafness (hearing loss that is present at birth), is blind in his left eye, but his curiosity about magic has not diminished and he has studied it for some time. On Sunday, he stood on the stage and told everyone with his actions - with passion, everyone can be a magician! Although it cannot be expressed in words, his brilliant smile touched every audience member, and everyone gave him the warmest applause to support him!
Seeing the children's wonderful performance, the audience burst into laughter.
Lifewire also launched a fundraising campaign, with charity sales at the venue for three consecutive days. The proceeds after deducting costs will be donated to AnAn International Education Foundation Hong Kong (Charity) Limited to help autistic children develop their talents.
A group of children who rarely have the opportunity to watch magic were amazed by the performance; all the parents thanked the organizer and Lifewire for providing them with this opportunity to enjoy the performance.
