Have the neighbors of Kennedy Town noticed that the two exterior walls at the Pui Fai Road Rest Area have been renovated? ✨
Thank you to the Lions Club of Hong Kong Island 港島獅子會 for engaging Lifewire to re-draw this wall with the theme of “Children’s Dreams” to promote rare diseases and invite children with rare diseases to participate.
Old murals
The "Children's Dream" wall painting campaign was launched last year and was finally completed this year after several shutdowns during the rainy season and the epidemic.
The pattern on the wall is designed by Hankel, the father of a rare disease child Bux Hei Yau Annie 罕病童晞佑. Hankel, who did the design himself, painted different sick children on the wall to achieve "Let's pay attention to rare diseases" in a colorful way!
In addition to his personal drawing, Hankel also guided the sick children, Lifewire team, members of the Hong Kong Island Lions Club and volunteers to complete the mural.
There were many hot days during the mural painting period, but the patients with rare diseases all wanted to contribute to this meaningful cause, so they were not afraid of the scorching sun and enjoyed it.
During the period, many passers-by stopped to watch. The sick children invited other children to participate and complete the mural together, truly achieving integration of the disabled and the healthy. It also received support from celebrities, calling on the public to pay attention to rare diseases, including Richard Ho Man-wui JP, director Andrew Lau, actors Ko Hon Man, Joseph Yeung Shui Lun, Tenky Tin Kai Man, Ding Yue, Chan To On Jacky, and Cantonese opera actor Alis Lin. If you pass by, you may wish to take a picture and appreciate the design of the mural and the meaning behind it. ❤️
