The "Stargazing Camp For All And The Blind 2016" is a large-scale outdoor activity for the disabled and the able-bodied, organized by a organizing committee jointly established by volunteer teams from a number of local industrial and commercial organizations, non-profit organizations, schools and government departments, and co-organized by the Social Welfare Department's Promotion of Volunteer Service Supervisory Committee. The conference invited many visually impaired, hearing impaired and disabled people to participate in the event.
This event has entered its sixth year and was held at the Chong Hing Water Sports Centre in Sai Kung. Unlike the night sky in the city center, we can clearly see the beautiful stars. In addition to stargazing, there were other exciting activities on the day, including sunrise viewing and wheelchair dance performances. Many people will raise the question: Able-bodied people can see the evening stars, but how can the visually impaired "stargaze"? Don't worry, the organizers have prepared auxiliary stargazing tools such as convex star maps, concave and convex moon maps, modified equipment and special telescopes, etc. Able-bodied people will serve as volunteers to assist and describe the phenomena, so that people with different physical disabilities can also understand astronomical phenomena and build their own starry sky in their minds.
Go out into the community more often; whether you are able-bodied or have a disability, you can all feel the beauty of nature!
